Free; end; I cannot duplicate this on my PC as it doesn't have a completely clean install. And the code certainly works under XP. Can anyone point me to a solution? See related articles to this posting. You can place the config file in the public folder hierarchy, it doesn't have to go where it is now.
Also, what version of Delphi was it written in? There were a couple of BDE related bugs introduced in D but fixed in the latest updates to it that affected things like the IsAlias code and anything that involved processing a database name.
Regards, Paul. Paul Hey, what can I say. C'est la vie? The version of Delphi is I can't see that it is a permissions problem as the customer was able to write to the config file using the BDE Admin. And, once the Alias existed, tSession still couldn't "find" it. It fails on the "if not Session1. IsAlias PSC " call. As far as I can figure it. What do you mean by the public folder hierarchy? I suspect I know what you mean.
But I'm not sure. Do you mean in the same directory hierarchy as the application? And installs then into the directory I mentioned. Doesn't a TSession look in the default directory? And only if it can't find it there, looks in the usual place. Of course, if that is the fix I can just include Idapi This is the preferred place for data shared by all users. If you put idapi But the default install will still look in the wrong place to open it until you do the opening and closing of it as in option 2 below.
I think I had trouble with installaware doing this before. Open it with BDE Admin and say yes to using this file as the default config file when you close it. We stopped using IA and used inno setup instead. I need the app to run on and XP. Sheesh deja vu. Back to idapi. I see I need to set it up on the development PC as well.
All I can say is, I hope the users aren't using Corel software. Because they're going to get busted. I really have to make progress on getting everything moved over to Advantage. Almost there. Well, I must admit, IA works fine when setting up Advantage-based apps. But getting it to handle the BDE is a real uphill battle.
And InstallShield - Express simply doesn't seem to work on Win 7 at all. You know I'm really get sick and tired of all this "safety first" crappola. This is why you need to target the various common app data folders in code and during install rather than bespoke paths so it works on them all as each OS will resolve folders suitable for itself.
I think for those using Corel, etc. I wonder how they solve the install problem on Win7, etc. You app is running fine and they install a Corel product after that?? It works very well, is fast and the conversion is fairly painless since the components are reasonably similar to their BDE counterparts. Good luck! Problem with IA the one bundled with D - no access to install scripts. Then send it to a willing customer and get them to test it.
But first I'll see if that busts it on XP and Win What's the cost? Yeah, nuisance. I think I've sorted it out. InstallShield with D6 installed all the settings. IA requires that you specify the registry settings. The IA folks, and help files, are absolutely no help at all. In fact they're confusing. Circular definitions " a feature is a feature that I've posted several messages on the IA forums. No replies to any of them. Completely different from the Advantage forums.
Thanks Alan. I think I'll stick to the default folders. That way I won't break any other software that also uses the BDE. Now start your application. With the BDE now happy with Windows7 actually, the other way around!

There is a paragraph that says: " There is no provisio. Compatible with any standard browser. As the original Borland Local SQL manual has been available in the obsolete WinHelp format only, not compatible with Windows 10, this has been recompiled into the more modern OS independent WebHelp format needing only a standard browser to display.
Update: Single exe file for and bit Windows. Download : BDEtest. You may choose e. Some applications may however wisely manage their use of NetFile as an independent per session setting avoiding the possible general conflicts about NetDir location.
