I am trying to see if I had missed a critical installation. For that, I need to run the Windows Update. Windows update runs normally. However, the BSOD happens before it is ever able to finish the update. Therefore, I tried switching to Safe Mode, plug in an Ethernet cable, and try completing the update that way. Now, in Safe Mode the Windows update fails to open. It shows a blank white screen with symbols to show it is loading, but never completes.

I attempted several ways to disable BitDefender without unintsalling it, just to try to verify that this answer was true. Even when all features of BitDefender were off and the Windows Services related to BitDefender were disabled, it still crashed. So finally, I uninstalled BitDefender, completely. In addition, some of the crashes I have experienced on this PC also happen while I'm on the Windows Recovery menu, including while trying to Reset the PC as the title of this tread suggests.

I even tried manually disabling all the services except the Microsoft services as Windows Update was shown as stopped-but that was just a waste of time.

I guess someone forgot to tell you. W7 is RTM. I'm running W7 Ult RC x64 now but what I've seen running it on my primary PC for several months there are still lots of bugs that still need to be corrected.
